• Using purchasing power sharing a large order with members at cost price.  

• Bulk purchase of 170  2kg bags of Seed Potatoes  delivered Feb 2026.  We will be taking orders for spring 2027 delivery in the autumn....

• 8' Hazel poles from a local coppicer are also ordered on behalf of members annually.

• Over 4.000 bags of manure / compost delivered to members since April 2022!

Free Loan of Battery Operated Srimmers

• 5 fully charged cordless strimmers.

• Available for members to borrow at pre-arranged times at no cost

SOCIAL EVENTS

• Seedling and seed swap held on 25th April  A very popular (and sociable) event!

• The summer picnic was held on 23rd August.  45 allotmenteers and their families enjoyed a lovely afternoon chatting and eating..

• Our last quiz night was on 15th November 2025.  74 members and friends joined us.

• Next quiz night planned for November 2026 - date to be confirmed shortly.

Sharing, Re-use and Recycling

• The Sharing Table encourages recycling and re-use.  Our aim is that members don’t need to buy new plastic but re-use what is already available for sharing

• The Sharing table has been really successful.  Miles of cardboard have been and gone.  Lots of seedlings, plant pots and other useful items have been donated and taken for re-use.

Wildlife, Biodiversity & Sustainability

• Actively promoted more sustainable horticultural techniques.  We continue to record, preserve and help enhance the unique biodiversity on the site.

• WAHGA volunteers continue to actively promote activities and cultivation methods which improve the biodiversity and sustainability of members’ growing spaces. 

Practical Help & Advice for Plot-Holders

• Provided 1-1 mentoring and adhoc advice to many plot-holders.  

• Volunteers have helped to dig over, strim and tidy plots for those who need temporary help.  Putting up guttering to collect rain water for water butts. One on one fruit tree pruning sessions.

PLOT JUDGING

• Julie Jacob - RHS Merrist Wood Instructor (and allotment gardener) engaged for plot judging.  Revamped criteria published to all members, and all entrants received scores & detailed written feedback.

• Plot Judging took place on 27 June 2025.  14 plots entered.

•  There were 4 plots winners who were awarded with vouchers for Valentina's at the summer picnic event 

WAHGA AGM

• WAHGA CIO AGM held on 9 June 2026

• 44 WAHGA members attended

• Very popular cheese and wine social event.
